Stray Animals

Stray deceased animals may be reported for pickup to 951-358-7387 during regular business hours. 

RCDAS accepts calls for deceased animals blocking a street or road 24 hours a day.

We do not remove animals from under homes or on freeways. Please call CalTrans at 909-383-4631 for deceased animals on freeways. 

Owned Pets

RCDAS provides deceased animal disposal services for owned animals on a case-by-case basis and in certain areas. Pickup services are available in certain areas. Please note that RCDAS does not offer public cremation services.

Animal owners may drop off deceased pets, dogs, cats, and other small animals during normal business hours only. 

Reporting Deceased Birds

Deceased birds play an important role in monitoring West Nile virus activity in California. If you find a deceased bird, please report it to the California West Nile Virus Dead Bird Call Center.

To report a dead bird:

• Call 1-877-WNV-BIRD (1-877-968-2473)

• Submit the online Report a Dead Bird form at westnile.ca.gov/report.php

The Dead Bird Call Center will notify the appropriate local agency, which will determine whether further action, including testing or collection, is needed.

When submitting a report, please provide as much information as possible about the bird and the location where it was found.

Please do not bring deceased birds to a Riverside County Department of Animal Services shelter for West Nile virus testing or surveillance. Reporting the bird through the statewide system helps ensure the appropriate agency receives the information and supports ongoing West Nile virus surveillance.
