Humane Euthanasia

If your pet is at the end of their natural life or is medically suffering and you cannot afford treatment, Riverside County Department of Animal Services provides humane euthanasia for pet owners who have no other options. Please remember to bring a valid ID and ensure that you are the registered owner on the microchip and/or license.

Appointments are required and spots are limited. Please note: the registered pet owner must be present for euthanasia services.

If you would like to coordinate arrangements for your pets remains, please do so directly with a pet cemetery and cremation service provider.

We recommend contacting a private veterinarian if possible, but we recognize costs may be prohibitive for some pet owners.

We charge a $50.00 fee for euthanasia and care of the pet’s remains. We do not guarantee euthanasia. If our veterinary team believes your pet can be treated and does not need to be euthanized, we will discuss options with you.

For after hours medical emergencies, please contact your closest emergency veterinary practice.
