A 61-year-old woman suffered serious injuries tonight (Monday, Oct. 20) after a dog attacked her while she was on a walk in her neighborhood east of Hemet.
The attacked happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Minorca Street in the unincorporated Riverside County area of Valle Vista. She was walking alone when a dog broke loose from its tether, escaped its yard, and attacked the woman, according to a witness.
A Riverside County sheriff's deputy responded and was first on scene in the 25500 block of Minorca. The deputy reported that the victim had suffered injuries to her head, arms and stomach. Photos of the victim show a severe wound to her head.
She was transported to a hospital and her condition is unknown at this time.
The owner of the dog, a 1-year-old, neutered male pit bull, signed the dog over for humane euthanasia. The dog was transported to the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus in San Jacinto.
