Indio Police Officers Discover a Spider Monkey During Search Warrant

A Riverside County animal control officer responded to a call today (11-15-24) from the Indio Police Department to assist with a monkey.

Indio Police officers served a search warrant on a property in the 40000 block of Amador Drive and, once inside, officers discovered a spider monkey.

The animal control officer carefully placed the monkey in a carrier and transported it to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms.

An animal services officer contacted a warden with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife and the warden arranged to have a specialized rescue organization pick up the monkey. That occurred Thursday afternoon.
