Today was a happy day for King the Tortoise. He was reunited with his Eastvale family. We received some media interest on the tortoise after he first came our way. We didn’t put out an official news release, but posted the story on our social media platforms. Hence why I am sending these video files (links below). If you need a clip w/out the titles or need a fresh sound bite, please drop me a note.

The kind couple who discovered the tortoise in the middle of a street in Eastvale are: Angela and Javier Puelles. The couple cared for the tortoise after the Easter weekend discovery. They flagged down Animal Services Officer Adam Haisten during his routine rounds on Easter Sunday. Officer Haisten wheeled out the tortoise by using a skateboard owned by a son of the couple. We nicknamed the tortoise Tony Hawk in honor of the famous skateboarder. (His name, we learned later, is King. He is about 15 years of age and he is a sulcata tortoise.)

Here is a link to a video featuring the tortoise when we first impounded him (we promise the footage is ASTOUNDING!):

Here is a link with some additional footage upon the day he was reunited with the rightful owner (also astounding footage):
