Update on the Cranston Fire as of Thursday, July 26, 2018, 6 a.m.
Riverside County proclaimed a local emergency because of the Cranston Fire. The proclamation will go to the Board of Supervisors at its next meeting for ratification. The proclamation could help make the county eligible for potential federal and state assistance.
At least 4,700 acres have burned with five structures lost, and containment at 5 percent.
Evacuations:
Evacuations ordered for ldyllwild, Apple Canyon, Fern Valley, Mountain Center, Lake Hemet, and Hurkey Creek. Some summer camps have been affected. Approximately 2,175 homes are evacuated affecting an estimated population of 3,200.
Shelter information:
A shelter for evacuees is open at Banning High School, at 100 West Westward in Banning. Thirty four residents have evacuated to the shelter.
Animal information:
The San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus at 581 South Grand in San Jacinto is open and accepting all animals, both domestic and large animals. Sixteen dogs and 23 cats are being cared for at the site.
Large animals can also be taken to the Dysart Equestrian Park at 2101 W. Victory Ave. in Banning.
If residents need assistance with evacuating their animals, call Riverside County Animal Services at 951-358-7329.
Power information:
Approximately 4,000 customers in the Idyllwild area are without power. Visit https://www.sce.com/outage-center for power information.
No update to earlier report that approximately 5,200 customers are without power in the Anza area.

Update on the Cranston Fire as of July 25, 4 p.m.
At least 1,200 acres have burned with zero percentage contained in the Cranston Fire in ldyllwild, off SR 74, west of the Mountain Center community.
At least 110 homes have been evacuated in southwest ldyllwild and some summer camps have been affected. At least 600 structures are threatened.
A care and reception center for evacuees has opened at Banning High School, at 100 West Westward in Banning.
