Veterans Adoption Special Offered Nov. 12 Free Pets for Active and Former Military

FRIDAY, Nov. 11, 2016 – All adoption fees will be waived for active military personnel and veterans on Saturday, Nov. 12, at three Riverside County animal shelters.

The fee-waived adoptions will be offered at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms, the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus in San Jacinto and the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley.

Anyone in active duty, reservists and veterans, plus their immediate family members, can participate in the Veterans Day special, also known as the Animals for Armed Forces, a nonprofit foundation that coordinates and helps sponsor adoptions for military members at certain times throughout the year.

The adoption special is applicable to any dog or cat and the pet will still be spayed or neutered, if necessary, and it will receive vaccinations and a microchip. Adopters of dogs will still need to prepare to buy a license ($17) if the adopter lives within Riverside County’s jurisdiction.
