Dog Bites Girl; Victim Suffers Injuries to Her Face

April 4, 2016

A 5-year-old girl suffered a serious bite wound to her face this afternoon in a Desert Hot Springs neighborhood. Emergency workers responded to the property on a Corkhill Road inside the Desert Oasis Mobile Home & RV Resort in Desert Hot Springs and the victim was transported to an area hospital.

The incident happened sometime after 4 p.m. The girl was visiting a property where the bite occurred. The dog, described by the owner as a Cocker Spaniel mix, was within in its own property. Riverside County Animal Services responded to retrieve the dog, which was described by the officer as resembling more of a terrier-poodle mix. The 4-year-old dog was relinquished by the owner for humane euthanasia.

We do not know the seriousness of the girl’s injuries, but we will try to update this incident if we are able.

Our animal control officer heading to hospital now to handle official bite report duties.
