ASK Café Returns to Assist Needy Pet Owners | Free Pet Food for Owners that Qualify

January 23, 2015

FRIDAY, Jan. 23, 2015 – A free-pet-food “café” is scheduled to resume next week for needy pet owners. The free food giveaway begins at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

The pantry, dubbed the ASK Café, is planned and run by volunteers with the Animal Solutions Konnection (ASK) Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization that assists Riverside County Animal Services’ programs and pets.

The ASK Café opens for business at 9 a.m. next Wednesday at the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter, 6851 Van Buren Blvd., Jurupa Valley, 92509.

There is no need to call the shelter. Note: The food is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The giveaway will likely run until about 11 a.m. or until the supply of food is given away.

Eligible recipients must bring a picture ID proving residence in Riverside County and one or more of the following: MediCal ID, food stamp ID, WIC ID, Section 8 housing documentation or income tax return/W-2 that demonstrates the recipient meets state qualifications of low income.

The mission of the ASK Café is to try to keep pets with families that may be struggling economically.

For families that are not in need, but would like to help the ASK Foundation’s efforts in this cause, the ASK Foundation accepts tax-deductible donations to help keep the ASK Café doors open on a monthly basis.
