New Shelter Readies for Grand Opening/Adopt-a-Thon

Celebration Includes Homeless Pets at Special Rates

10-0508_WIENERFESTTuesday, May 4, 2010, RIVERSIDE – Approximately 2,852 paws will greet the public during Animal Services’ new shelter Grand Opening/”Adopt-a-Thon” Celebration on Saturday, May 8th.

With more than 67,000 square feet of structures and kennels on a 12-acre site, the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter is now one of the biggest in Southern California.

On Saturday, the celebration includes free hot dogs, animal-shaped jumpers for the kids, live music, and, most importantly, more than 700 animals ready for adoption into lifelong, loving homes.

Every adopted animal goes home nice and fresh, thanks to Four Paws Inn of Banning. Four Paws Inn is sending its mobile grooming team out to spruce up all the adopted pets at no extra charge to the adopting families. And, while the parents – or fellow family members – of such pets are waiting for that free grooming, they can get their own ’do coifed by a friendly John Paul Mitchell professional hair stylist. It’ll be like a Groom-a-Palooza of sorts.
